Even though the first four minutes of The Kingdom look promising, after those precious four minutes the movie veers off into a shallow action-packed rollercoaster ride with little interest in the underlying dynamics of the situation. It’s almost like the director had the feeling he needed to justify the superficial nature of his film by tacking on an introduction that does deal with the issues at hand; just so that in the movie, he didn’t have to. The journalist-style shaky camera work only heightened my disinterest. A cheap band-aid on what could have been a truly interesting film. Pity.
